Pump.fun Brings Back Livestreaming After Suspending it Over Disturbing Meme Coin Content

Pump.fun, the popular Solana-based meme coin launchpad, has restored its livestreaming feature to 5% of users after a period of suspension due to backlash over disturbing and inappropriate content that aired during some streams, co-founder Alon said on Friday. The platform has implemented a new content moderation policy to clarify which content will be allowed and which will cross the line.
The updated policy aims to curb behavior that could endanger users, protect the platform from illegal or harmful content, while preserving “creativity and freedom of expression and encouraging meaningful engagement among users.” The new rules prohibit content involving violence, harassment, sexual exploitation, child endangerment, and illegal activity. Pump.fun also outlines a firm stance against privacy violations, including doxing, and affirms its cooperation with law enforcement in cases involving criminal content.
At the same time, Pump.fun states that Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content is not disallowed by default—so long as it doesn’t fall into one of the prohibited categories. As stated in the document, “much content” on its platform could fall into that category, and Pump.fun will make case-by-case decisions on what is appropriate.
Pump.fun’s team will reserve “the right to unilaterally determine the appropriateness of content where necessary and to moderate it accordingly.” This means users may encounter adult themes—but also that moderation teams have the authority to step in when needed. Violations may result in stream termination and account suspension. Users can appeal content removal through Pump.fun’s support system, though the platform maintains final discretion over policy enforcement. Pump.fun suspended its livestreaming feature last November following widespread backlash over harmful and abusive content broadcast on the platform. The platform faced severe criticism after users broadcast violent threats, self-harm incidents, and explicit acts to manipulate token values.
