Someone climbed up the Hollywood sign Saturday and began waving a flag for a cryptocurrency called Vigilante Token. The person was arrested by Los Angeles police. The authorities received a report of someone standing on top of the sign about 2:54 p.m. The flag they waved displayed the name “Vigilante,” along with a website address, an X (formerly Twitter) handle, and what appeared to be the company’s logo.
Dressed in dark clothing, including a ski mask and a camouflage vest, the person’s identity was fully concealed. A post on X from Vigilante Token the day before teased a viral stunt, stating, “On Feb 15th, 2025, we’re launching our Vigilante Token in the most viral way you’ve ever seen.”
Then, just two minutes before police were alerted, the company posted a photo of the Hollywood sign captioned “Currently…”
