Professional Fortnite player Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson has been appointed as the first gaming ambassador for popular NFT marketplace OpenSea. As OpenSea’s first gaming ambassador, Mongraal will help explain the use of blockchain in gaming, particularly focusing on digital asset ownership. This marks an effort by OpenSea to engage the gaming audience with blockchain technology.
Mongraal is a professional Fortnite player who gained recognition early in his career by qualifying for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup at just 14 years old. Known for his fast gameplay and competitive success, he has since built a significant following through his Twitch streams and social media presence. His involvement with blockchain gaming began in 2023 when he participated in Dookey Dash, a browser-based game launched by Yuga Labs on January 18. The game, similar in style to endless runners like Subway Surfers or Temple Run, requires players to navigate obstacles whilst racing to achieve the highest score.
Mongraal secured the top spot on the global leaderboard by demonstrating strong skill and speed. As a reward, he received a unique NFT called the “Dookey Dash Key.” Later, Mongraal sold this NFT for 1,000 $ETH, equivalent to approximately $1.63 million at the time. Mongraal’s role will focus on bridging traditional gaming and blockchain gaming communities.
He is expected to create content that explains blockchain-based gaming mechanics, particularly how players can own and trade digital assets outside of games. Mongraal will also engage with his audience to clarify how blockchain technology is applied in competitive gaming. His involvement aims to provide insight into the use and value of NFTs in gaming whilst addressing common questions and concerns.
