What appears to become the first blockchain game to launch on console, Off The Grid, has completed its first playtest. While initially announced for Xbox, the opening test was on PlayStation 5. The game is deployed to developer Gunzilla Games’ gaming subnet Gunz which is built on L1 Avalanche.
Following the playtest, Avalanche posted on X claiming that over 30,000 players joined the action, generating a total of around 400,000 transactions on Gunz. Players were also incentivized by various freebies in the process.
As for the game itself, it’s a highend battle royale thirdperson shooter – also featuring a 60 hour single player mode – in which the in-game character’s cybernetic limbs are swappable and tradable NFTs.
Additionally, there will be lots of customizable weapons that can already be traded on the game’s mobile wallet, which runs using the GUN token. Worth noting however is the token is not yet live external to the app. More than four years in the making, Gunzilla has raised over $100 million for Off The Grid. When the game will officially launch is yet to be revealed.
