The Apple Vision Pro is reportedly having a tough time, with Apple said to have cut production of the $3,500 mixed-reality headset amid lower than expected demand.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the company had slashed its Vision Pro shipments to 400,000-450,000 units, with the market predicting 700,000–800,000 units or more. According to the report, Apple cut shipments ahead of the Vision Pro’s launch in non-U.S. markets, suggesting weak demand in the U.S.
Ming-Chi Kuo speculates that Apple is currently reviewing its Apple Vision Pro roadmap, and may no longer release a new, cheaper model in 2025. Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple now expects Vision Pro shipments to decline year-on-year in 2025.
The Apple Vision Pro launched in February with what IGN called an “absurd” price tag. In our review, we also mentioned the Apple Vision Pro’s “uncomfortable fit and bummer battery life”, but praised the device as “a glimpse into the future of computing.”
Apple Vision Pro launched with Disney+ and other streaming services including Crunchyroll, Max, Paramount+, and Prime Video. Unfortunately, Netflix does not have a native app for the Vision Pro, with subscribers to the service having to use a web browser on the device to access their account instead.
