Blockchain gaming franchise Illuvium revealed a collaboration this week with Casio’s G-Shock watch brand to release a collection of NFT cards. This collection will be used in the Illuvium Beyond card collection game. Illuvium Beyond is not to be confused with the other three illuvium games that launched this year. This is branded as a collectible card game with a leaderboard that tracks the points value of the top 100 players’ collection of cards, and is available to play on the Illuvium site.
This G-Shock collaboration comes as part of the third wave of NFT cards released for Illuvium Beyond. It features six characters (called Illuvitars) from the game “reimagined” wearing G-Shock gear. Mystic monkey character Aapon, for example, has been strapped with body armor that looks like what you’d expect from the line of watches.
Each G-Shock Illuvitar will have one of three backgrounds, and will be available both as holographic and non-holographic digital cards. This creates 108 possible variations. The collection is set to go on sale from December 9-22, purchasable in the form of a $35 “D1SK” NFT—pronounced disk. If anyone buys 20 or more D1SKs, then they will be rewarded with an exclusive Illuvium G-Shock physical watch.
More details regarding the collection are set to be revealed on December 5. Illuvium Beyond launched in 2023, and unlike the other games in the franchise, it’s more of a collection-based affair than a fully-fledged game. It’s all about how many NFT cards you obtain, how rare they are, and how much you can fill up your virtual booklets.
