Web3 Game Moonray Mint Out Their Godspawn NFTs

PS5-bound action-combat web3 game Moonray has seen its first NFT collection – titled Godspawn NFTs – sell out, ahead of the project’s upcoming airdrop campaign. Backed by Animoca Brands, and having announced a PlayStation 5 release coming next year, Moonray are on a roll. All 5,000 of these free-to-mint NFTs were claimed during the FCFS phase of their launch, with the floor price sitting at 0.008 ETH at the time of writing.
Holders are set to benefit from exclusive in-game utilities, early access to features and events, and an allocation of the upcoming $MNRY token – the game’s core token – which is set to launch before the end of 2024. Moonray is a web3 action-combat title, available on PC via the Epic Games Store – though currently without any blockchain-based elements. Built on Ethereum, the game initially debuted to select players in March 2022, before a launch on the Epic Games Store in July 2024.
Players dive in to a variety of fast-paced PVP modes, including 4v4 arena and large-scale battle royale environments, progressing through campaigns that engage and reward the players. The game is developed by Moonray Studios, who have been around since 2021. Alongside the core game, the studio has also ventured outside of gaming with a duo of graphic novels; 2023’s “Mother’s Skin”, and 2024’s “Echoes of Ascension”, exploring the lore of Moonray.
The series is written by comic book artist Brandon Graham and is available in 4,000 comic book stores in North America and the UK, including Midtown Comics and Barnes & Noble. Moonray Studios has formed strategic partnerships with Digital Void for game development, Reel FX for streaming content, and gaming guilds like YGG, Snack Club, and Unix for user acquisition. “The Godspawn PFP is an integral part of our ecosystem and will be a way for us to more intimately interact with the broader PFP community,” said Hans Andersson, CBO and co-founder of Moonray Studios.
“It provides access to exclusive in-game items, early access to playtests, and questing events. We have some interesting partnerships in the works for those events that we believe the community will truly appreciate. “While we focus on consoles as an important platform to reach broader audiences, we want to continue rewarding our web3 community as they now get a chance to grab the Godspawn NFTs to really elevate their Moonray experience.”
The success of these Godspawn NFTs is another example of this week’s surge in the NFT markets, with $91 million in total transactions over the past 7 days. Popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Solana and Ethereum have been recovering, with NFTs following suit, with increasing interest in new collections.
