Unserious Acquires Creepz NFT Brand as Original Creator Returns to Lead Revival

Unserious Inc. has acquired the popular Ethereum NFT collection Creepz, bringing the brand under new ownership while welcoming back its original creator, Psychrome, to oversee creative direction and intellectual property development. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but the deal is backed by entrepreneur and prominent NFT collector Adam Weitsman, with support from the project’s original founders during the transition.

The acquisition represents a fresh start for one of the most recognizable NFT collections from the 2021–2022 bull market. By combining experienced brand operators with the return of the artist responsible for Creepz’s distinctive identity, the new ownership team hopes to revive the project’s momentum as interest in NFTs begins showing signs of recovery.

Psychrome Returns to Lead Creative Vision

One of the biggest announcements accompanying the acquisition was the return of Psychrome, the original artist behind the Creepz universe.

Psychrome will oversee intellectual property development and creative direction, restoring the project’s original artistic leadership after several years away. His portfolio includes collaborations with major global brands such as NikeDisneyWarner Bros.SalomonRovioStaple, and Sneaker Con, bringing significant commercial experience to the next phase of the Creepz brand.

A Well-Known NFT Collection Gets New Ownership

Originally launched in January 2022, Creepz quickly became one of Ethereum’s most recognizable profile-picture NFT collections.

According to OpenSea, the collection has generated approximately 27,400 ETH in lifetime trading volume across more than 11,000 NFTs. Beyond digital collectibles, the brand expanded into music, fashion, and gaming through token-gated Spotify experiences, apparel collaborations with END., and a partnership with Revolving Games to build a science-fiction game based on the Creepz universe.

Adam Weitsman Deepens His Commitment

Entrepreneur Adam Weitsman played a major role in the transaction.

Prior to the acquisition, Weitsman had reportedly acquired 636 Creepz NFTs, representing the project’s treasury holdings, along with additional pieces from the original collection. His investment signaled strong confidence in the long-term value of the Creepz intellectual property before backing Unserious’s acquisition.

Questions Still Remain

Although ownership has officially changed, several aspects of the project’s future remain unclear.

Neither Unserious nor the previous development team has confirmed whether existing holder benefits, gaming initiatives, licensing agreements, or the long-discussed CREEPZ token will continue under the new leadership. The company says additional details regarding future development plans will be shared as the transition progresses.

NFT Brands Are Shifting Toward Entertainment

The acquisition reflects a broader trend across the NFT industry as projects increasingly evolve into entertainment and consumer brands rather than relying solely on collectible sales.

Instead of focusing only on floor prices, many leading NFT collections are investing in gaming, merchandise, intellectual property licensing, and media partnerships to build sustainable businesses capable of surviving future market cycles. Creepz appears poised to continue pursuing that strategy under its new ownership.

What This Means for Crypto

The acquisition of Creepz by Unserious Inc. highlights the continued evolution of the NFT industry from speculative collectibles into long-term intellectual property businesses. Bringing back the original creator while adding experienced operators and financial backing suggests that successful NFT projects are increasingly being valued for their brands, communities, and entertainment potential rather than short-term trading activity alone.

For the broader Web3 ecosystem, the deal signals renewed confidence in established NFT brands despite the market’s prolonged downturn. As collections focus on expanding into gaming, media, fashion, and licensing, projects with recognizable intellectual property and loyal communities may be better positioned to thrive during the next phase of digital asset adoption.
