Pro-Crypto Advocate Ammon Simon Appointed Chief Counsel to Senate Banking Committee

Ammon Simon has been appointed Chief Counsel for the US Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, according to his LinkedIn announcement. Simon previously served as counsel to SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, where he focused on regulatory policies for crypto assets and emerging financial technologies.

During his tenure at the SEC, he worked to facilitate dialogue between the agency and industry stakeholders on matters including advisory client asset protection. His prior roles include serving as Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to the General Counsel at the Department of Housing and Urban Development during the Trump Administration. He also worked as Banking Counsel for Senator Ben Sasse, where he provided guidance on financial market regulations.

Simon holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Wheaton College, where he was an FPE Fellow studying faith, politics, and economics. The Senate Banking Committee is currently working on legislative initiatives to integrate digital assets into traditional financial systems.  Simon’s appointment comes as the committee addresses regulatory frameworks for the crypto sector.
