Polygon and Solana Join Forces to Bring Stablecoin Payments to Banks and Businesses Worldwide

Polygon Labs and the Solana Foundation have announced a major partnership to connect Solana’s rapidly growing stablecoin ecosystem with Polygon’s banking and payment infrastructure. The collaboration integrates Solana into Polygon’s Open Money Stack (OMS), allowing banks, fintech companies and businesses to move money between traditional bank accounts and blockchain networks through a single integration. The partnership brings together two longtime blockchain competitors as demand for stablecoin payments and cross-border financial services continues to expand.

Polygon and Solana Put Blockchain Rivalry Aside

For years, Polygon and Solana have competed for developers, users, decentralized applications and blockchain transaction activity.

Now, the two ecosystems are collaborating to address one of the cryptocy industry’s biggest challenges: connecting digital assets to the traditional banking system.

Under the agreement, Polygon Labs is extending its Open Money Stack infrastructure to businesses operating on Solana.

This means companies can continue using Solana for fast, low-cost stablecoin transactions while accessing Polygon’s banking connections, digital wallets, payment processing and international payout services.

The partnership does not merge the two blockchains or require Solana developers to migrate their applications to Polygon.

Instead, it allows both networks to operate independently while sharing payment infrastructure.

Aishwary Gupta, global head of business at Polygon Labs, explained that businesses should not need to rebuild their financial infrastructure every time they want to support a different blockchain network.

Open Money Stack Connects Banks, Stablecoins and Blockchain Networks

Polygon’s Open Money Stack is designed to simplify the technical requirements for businesses offering cryptocy payment services.

Traditionally, companies seeking to integrate stablecoins must establish separate relationships with banks, wallet providers, payment processors and blockchain infrastructure companies.

Open Money Stack combines those capabilities through a single integration.

Businesses using the platform can:

  • Accept payments through bank transfers, debit cards, cash and cryptocurrencies.

  • Convert traditional currencies into stablecoins on supported blockchain networks.

  • Create digital wallets and programmable customer accounts.

  • Transfer assets between blockchains, including Solana, Polygon, Ethereum and TRON.

  • Send payouts to bank accounts, cards and cryptocy wallets.

  • Automate payment processing through programmable financial workflows.

The infrastructure supports digital assets including USDC, USDT, PayPal USD (PYUSD), SOL and wrapped SOL, depending on the transaction route.

Polygon says the service is designed to make the underlying blockchain technology largely invisible to customers, allowing users to experience familiar banking and payment services.

Kira Becomes One of the First Companies to Use the Partnership

Cross-border payments company Kira is among the first businesses adopting the new integration.

Kira helps companies transfer money internationally using stablecoins while maintaining connections to traditional bank accounts.

Through the Polygon and Solana partnership, Kira can use Solana to transfer digital dollars and Polygon’s banking infrastructure to convert those assets into traditional cy.

For example, a business in the United States could fund a payment through a bank account, transfer stablecoins using Solana and allow an overseas supplier to receive the funds in dollars through a supported banking partner.

Edrizio De La Cruz, CEO of Kira, said the integration helps the company convert stablecoin transfers into dollars in customer bank accounts when international suppliers need to be paid.

The arrangement demonstrates how blockchain payment infrastructure can support business transactions without requiring recipients to directly manage cryptocy.

Solana Processes More Than $5.5 Trillion in Stablecoin Transfers in 2026

The partnership comes as stablecoin transaction activity continues expanding across major blockchain networks.

According to figures cited by the Solana Foundation, Solana has processed more than $5.5 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume during 2026.

Polygon has recorded more than $3 trillion in cumulative stablecoin transfers since its launch.

These figures demonstrate the scale of digital asset activity across both ecosystems.

However, the totals include transfers between cryptocy wallets, trading-related transactions and other onchain movements. They should not be interpreted as equivalent to consumer purchases or commercial payment volume.

Solana’s network is known for its high transaction throughput and relatively low transaction costs, making it attractive for stablecoin transfers.

Polygon has increasingly focused on connecting blockchain networks with banking infrastructure and real-world payment services.

By combining those capabilities, the companies aim to make stablecoin transactions more practical for financial institutions and businesses.

Polygon Expands Banking Infrastructure Through Coinme Acquisition

The Solana partnership follows several moves by Polygon Labs to expand its role in cryptocy payments.

Earlier in October, Polygon added TRON support to Open Money Stack, allowing businesses to access TRON’s extensive USDT stablecoin ecosystem through Polygon’s payment infrastructure.

Polygon also completed its acquisition of Coinme, a U.S.-based cryptocy payments company.

The acquisition brought money transmission licenses and exemptions covering 48 U.S. states, strengthening Polygon’s ability to provide regulated fiat-to-crypto services through its payment infrastructure.

These developments position Open Money Stack as a multichain platform connecting traditional financial systems with several of the industry’s largest blockchain networks.

Rather than requiring customers to choose a single blockchain, Polygon is building infrastructure designed to work across multiple ecosystems.

Banks Gain New Options for Stablecoin Payments

Financial institutions are increasingly exploring stablecoins for international transfers, business payments and settlement services.

However, connecting traditional banking systems to multiple blockchains can require significant technical development and regulatory compliance work.

The Polygon and Solana integration is intended to reduce that complexity.

Banks and fintech companies can potentially access Solana-based stablecoin activity through Polygon’s existing payment infrastructure instead of building separate connections for each network.

Jamal Raees, general manager of payments at the Solana Foundation, said the collaboration provides additional ways for businesses to access regulated payment services while continuing to operate on Solana.

The partnership could support applications involving international remittances, supplier payments, merchant settlements and digital wallets.

However, individual institutions must still meet applicable regulatory requirements, and the announcement does not mean every bank automatically supports Solana payments.

Blockchain Interoperability Becomes a Priority for Global Finance

The collaboration highlights an important shift in the cryptocy industry.

While blockchain networks continue competing for users and developers, financial institutions increasingly need infrastructure capable of connecting multiple networks.

A bank may want to support USDC on Solana, USDT on TRON and tokenized financial products on Ethereum without building an entirely separate payment system for each blockchain.

Multichain infrastructure could allow financial institutions to support those assets through a more unified customer experience.

This approach also creates opportunities for businesses to use blockchain technology without requiring customers to understand cryptocy wallets, network fees or cross-chain bridges.

For the broader industry, the partnership suggests that cooperation between competing blockchain ecosystems may become increasingly important as stablecoin adoption grows.

Polygon and Solana Partnership Could Accelerate Stablecoin Adoption

The partnership represents another development in the convergence of blockchain technology and traditional financial services.

Solana contributes an established ecosystem for high-volume stablecoin transfers, while Polygon provides banking connections, wallet infrastructure and payment orchestration services.

Together, the networks are targeting businesses that want to move money internationally without managing multiple blockchain integrations.

The integration is already available through Polygon Open Money Stack, with Kira among its early adopters.

However, the companies have not announced specific transaction-volume targets or disclosed how many additional banks and businesses will adopt the service.
