Play Solana Unveils First-Ever Crypto Gaming Handheld Device

The first handheld web3 gaming device built on the Solana blockchain, Play Solana Gen1 (PSG1), has been officially announced today. The preorder status for PSG1 was unveiled at the Solana Breakpoint Conference last week.

The event in Singapore took place from September 20-21, the Solana Breakpoint Conference served as the platform for the official preorder announcement of the PSG1 device. The event is especially significant for holders of the Player 1 NFT, as they will receive priority and discounted access to the preorders.

These NFT holders will also benefit from early access to future updates and the ability to participate in community-driven initiatives within the Play Solana ecosystem. The Player 1 NFTs were minted through Magic Eden’s Launchpad on September 16 and have since sold out.

First came the Saga phone, followed by today’s announcement of the Solana Seeker, and now the Play Solana handheld Web3 gaming console. Expanding into the gaming world with its handheld Web3 device, Play Solana is pushing the boundaries of blockchain-integrated hardware.

Hardware launches on Solana often attract attention from the crypto market, largely because the first Solana Saga phone airdropped thousands of dollars’ worth of tokens and NFTs, surpassing the phone’s retail value. However, the device also faced harsh criticism from popular tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), who labeled it the “Worst New Phone of 2023” in his annual smartphone awards.
