NEW YORK - CIRCA MARCH 2016: New York City at night. The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States
The New York Stock Exchange is teaming up with Blockchain.com to explore bringing tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs directly to crypto investors around the world. Under a newly signed agreement, Blockchain.com could connect its more than 44 million confirmed accounts to NYSE’s planned blockchain-based trading venue, potentially giving users 24/7 access to tokenized versions of traditional securities.
NYSE Group and Blockchain.com
The assets would trade through NYSE’s planned digital alternative trading system, or ATS, which is being developed as a regulated marketplace for blockchain-based securities.
The proposed integration could offer:
However, the companies have not announced a launch date, and the offering remains subject to required regulatory approvals.
The partnership gives NYSE something especially valuable as it expands into tokenization—a direct connection to a large crypto-native audience.
Blockchain.com says it has more than 44 million confirmed accounts. CEO and co-founder Peter Smith said connecting with NYSE’s digital ATS could eventually expand access to tokenized securities for tens of millions of users around the world.
Blockchain.com already offers tokenized U.S. stocks to eligible customers through a partnership with Ondo Finance, with those products backed 1:1 by underlying assets and currently available on Ethereum and BNB Chain.
The NYSE agreement represents a potentially much deeper connection between crypto trading infrastructure and one of the world’s largest traditional securities markets.
The agreement isn’t limited to trading.
ICE Data Services, part of NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange, plans to distribute Blockchain.com’s crypto market data and analytics to its customers.
Blockchain.com, meanwhile, plans to integrate certain NYSE and ICE market feeds into its own platform, bringing traditional stock-market information to its users. The data is also expected to appear inside June, Blockchain.com’s AI-powered crypto assistant.
That creates a two-way bridge: traditional financial institutions gain additional crypto-market intelligence while crypto investors gain greater access to conventional market data.
The partnership fits into NYSE’s larger plan to build a regulated 24/7 tokenized securities marketplace.
NYSE says the platform will combine its existing Pillar trading technology with blockchain-based settlement, including the ability to settle transactions against stablecoins.
Importantly, NYSE doesn’t envision its tokenized stocks as synthetic tokens that merely track a company’s stock price.
NYSE Group President Lynn Martin has said the digital securities would be directly linked to the underlying shares, preserving traditional shareholder protections such as dividends, voting rights and corporate actions.
That distinction could become increasingly important as regulators determine which types of tokenized stocks can operate within U.S. securities markets.
The Blockchain.com agreement arrives as NYSE rapidly expands its tokenization strategy.
NYSE has been testing Avalanche technology for roughly a year as it evaluates blockchain infrastructure for its digital platform, although no blockchain has been officially selected. The exchange has also entered a separate tokenization agreement with Securitize.
Now, Blockchain.com potentially provides the distribution layer connecting that emerging infrastructure directly with millions of crypto users.
The partnership doesn’t mean NYSE tokenized stocks are available on Blockchain.com today. But if regulatory approval is secured and the digital ATS launches as planned, one of Wall Street’s most established institutions could gain a direct gateway into one of crypto’s largest retail user bases—while bringing traditional U.S. stocks closer to the always-open trading model pioneered by crypto markets.
