New NFT Collection on Base Commemorates the 2024 Summer Olympics

With the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris just around the corner, nWay, a subsidy of Animoca Brands, is launching a free NFT collection of digital pins to commemorate the event.

In collaboration with My Olympic™ Rewards and Coinbase’s Onchain Summer campaign, the ‘Olympic Games Paris 2024 Mascot NFT Digital Pins’ come in two designs — each featuring the Paris 2024 mascot. Both are available in Epic or Legendary rarity levels.

According to the press release from nWay, the commemorative digital assets are available to claim at the NFT marketplace Magic Eden or through the My Olympic™ Rewards program. They are non-transferable, and users need a Base-supported wallet to complete the minting process.

The mint will last from July 9th until August 12th, and members of the nWayPlay (NWP) and Olympic Games Jam (OGJ) communities will be emailed a whitelist spot and receive all four pins.

Jesse Pollak, the creator of Base, said that the drop showcases “the potential of onchain technology to connect brands closer with their fans.” Of course, that is the main goal of Coinbase’s Onchain Summer event, which began in 2023 to encourage brands and creators to launch projects on the new blockchain.

nWay is a subsidiary of Animoca Brands that specializes in building interoperable games in Web3, including Wreck LeaguePower RangersOlympic Games Jam: Beijing 2022, and dozens more.

The Olympic Games 2024 will take place from July 26th until August 11th in Paris. It is expected to attract between 2.3 and 3.1 visitors to France from all over the world and draw a TV viewership of over 3 billion.
