Immutable has launched a dedicated Mobile Gaming Division to capture the $121 billion mobile gaming market, reflecting its belief that mobile is the fastest route to mass Web3 adoption. With more than three billion people now playing games on their phones—generating more revenue than PC and console combined—mobile represents the single largest audience in the industry. Immutable plans to merge familiar free-to-play models with blockchain features such as digital ownership and tradable assets, giving mobile players both accessibility and new economic opportunities.
The company’s momentum comes from titles like Gods Unchained, a competitive trading card game; Guild of Guardians, a mobile RPG with play-to-earn mechanics; and Illuvium, a visually rich auto-battler gaining traction across platforms. These games demonstrate how Web3 experiences can deliver quality gameplay while offering blockchain-powered ownership. Immutable’s new mobile unit will build on this foundation by investing in studios, simplifying blockchain integration for developers, and expanding partnerships with publishers and app stores. Together, these steps are designed to lower barriers for developers and bring blockchain benefits to players.
Immutable is also moving quickly to take advantage of regulatory shifts. The Epic Games Store case—where a U.S. court ruled that Apple must allow external payment links in apps—opened the door for developers to integrate external crypto payments, reducing the restrictive 30% fees charged by app stores. Proposed legislation like the CLARITY Act, which seeks to define clear rules for digital assets, is expected to make it easier for major studios to adopt blockchain features. By launching a mobile-focused division now, Immutable is positioning itself to benefit from a regulatory environment that increasingly supports crypto integration.
Already supporting more than 680 games and working with major studios such as Ubisoft, Immutable offers an ecosystem that includes Immutable Chain for scalable transactions, Passport for wallet and identity management, and Play tools to help developers grow. The new mobile division will strengthen app store partnerships, enhance developer support, and focus on growth in Asia-Pacific, the world’s leading gaming market. However, competition is heating up, with platforms like Ronin, Mythical Games, and Gala also making aggressive moves into the Web3 mobile space.
This announcement follows one of Immutable’s strongest years to date, marked by major CEX and stablecoin partnerships, 180 new games onboarded—including a $100 million-plus franchise—and a viral expansion into Web2 games. Immutable also completed the merger of its X and zkEVM chains to enhance scalability and developer experience.
Web3 mobile gaming continues to grow rapidly, with millions of active users and increasing investment from major studios. While challenges such as user onboarding friction and regulatory uncertainty remain, mobile platforms are expected to drive much of this growth due to their accessibility and global reach. For players, this shift promises true ownership of in-game assets as NFTs, open trading through decentralized marketplaces, and new ways to earn and engage through in-game economies. For developers, it opens fresh revenue streams, lower platform fees, and more sustainable business models—positioning Immutable’s mobile push at the center of Web3 gaming’s next evolution.
