The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has announced the latest round of Bitcoin Development Fund grants worth 7 BTC. 7 BTC (700,000,000 satoshis) worth $706,000 have been given to 20 projects focused on supporting people in countries with oppressive governments. The grants focus on regions in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
These twenty projects are Stratum V2 Reference Implementation (SRI), Public Pool, Naiyoma, Daniela Brozzoni, UX/UI Design for Bitcoin Core, No BS Bitcoin, Tando, YakiHonne, SeedSigner Multi-language Support, Vexl, Tomatech, Krux, Iris, African UX Bitcoin Bootcamp, Bitcoin History, Cashu-ts, Unify, The Financial Freedom Policy Coalition, Jon Atack, and Brink.
The HRF’s Bitcoin Development Fund focuses on enabling a more decentralized, censorship-resistant Bitcoin network. The grants will support projects on key areas such as Bitcoin mining decentralization, enhancing privacy tools, improving Bitcoin infrastructure, and providing better financial solutions for communities living under oppressive regimes.
The donation will help Bitcoin grow and offer financial independence, especially in countries with limited financial access. By supporting these 20 projects, the HRF is making Bitcoin more secure, decentralized, and resistant to censorship, ensuring it remains a tool for freedom and human rights. The Human Rights Foundation is a nonprofit that promotes human rights, focusing on closed societies. It supports Bitcoin for its potential to fight authoritarianism and give people financial freedom in repressive regimes.
