Helium Mobile has launched the first-ever free phone plan in the U.S. It’s called “Zero Plan”, and it offers 3GB of data, 300 texts, and 100 minutes of call time every month at absolutely no cost. According to the press release, there are no contracts, hidden fees, or surprises. The service is powered by a community-owned 5G network, instead of the big telecom corporations, which allows it to offer this unheard-of pricing.
The Zero Plan is available through an invitation or a waitlist, making it an exclusive deal for early users. Helium Mobile’s Zero Plan is all about making mobile service affordable and accessible. By using a decentralized network owned by individual users, Helium cuts out the middleman and dramatically lowers the cost.
In addition to the free plan, Helium also offers two paid options: the Air Plan ($15/month) with 10GB of data and unlimited talk and text, and the Infinity Plan ($30/month), which gives unlimited data, talk, and text. These plans allow users to choose what fits best with their needs, whether they’re looking for a free option or more data. Helium’s unique Cloud Points program sets it apart from traditional carriers. Subscribers can earn points by doing simple activities like sharing anonymized location data, referring friends, or completing surveys.
These points can then be redeemed for rewards like gift cards to popular stores, food delivery, rideshares, and streaming services. Well-known companies such as Uber, Amazon, Nike, and Starbucks are already part of the rewards system. “Connectivity is an essential part of life—whether it’s for staying in touch with loved ones, accessing education, or building businesses. But for far too long, the telco industry has treated it like a luxury, not a right,” said Coco Tang, General Manager of Helium Mobile Subscribers.
For those switching to Helium Mobile, the service offers a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy. Users can keep their current phone and phone number when they switch. The company also provides Concierge Service, where live agents help users contact their previous provider to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
With the combination of a community-powered 5G network and the nation’s largest 5G network, Helium ensures reliable connectivity for all users. The Zero Plan is now open for those on the waitlist, and Helium Mobile is working to meet high demand. Those interested in signing up can visit hellohelium.com for more details.
