FOX’s Verify Protocol for News integrates with TIME Media

FOX Corporation, a TV media conglomerate, has announced a significant expansion of its Verify protocol- a blockchain technology initiative to verify journalistic content-by integrating it with another media brand TIME.

The latest development involves a strategic partnership with TIME, a global media brand, marking Verify’s first external publishing collaboration. TIME will integrate Verify into its content licensing strategy, leveraging blockchain’s transparency to safeguard the integrity of its journalism across a vast audience.

The Verify Protocol, which was introduced on the public Polygon Proof-of-Stake network earlier this year, uses blockchain technology to verify the origin and history of journalistic content securely. This cryptographic process ensures that consumers can independently confirm the authenticity of content from trusted publishers, starting with FOX’s extensive media outlets like FOX Sports and FOX News.

One of Verify’s groundbreaking features is its ability to connect media companies directly with AI platforms through its Verified Access Point. This innovation allows for new commercial opportunities by using smart contracts to regulate content access programmatically.

TIME Chief Operating Officer Mark Howard said, “At TIME, we are committed to advancing our mission of providing trusted journalism for our global audience of 120 million people by embracing new innovations and pioneering emerging technologies—from blockchain to AI. TIME is proud to join FOX’s Verify as an authenticated source of fact-based journalism at a time when access to trusted information is more important than ever.”

Following positive feedback and the initial success of the verify protocol with Polygon’s help, FOX now plans to move to Verify from Polygon to an independent zero-knowledge blockchain on Ethereum, facilitated by Polygon CDK and Gelato.

This transition aims to enhance Verify’s capabilities in proving content authenticity swiftly and cost-effectively, opening doors for developers to build projects with enhanced transparency and security.

Verify remains an open-source protocol, encouraging collaboration from developers and users alike to contribute to its evolution. Originally developed by FOX’s Emerging Technology team, Verify’s advancement with Gelato underscores its commitment to pioneering blockchain solutions in content verification.

FOX and TIME’s partnership highlights a shared dedication to leveraging technology for trusted journalism and enhancing consumer confidence in the digital media landscape.
