Drake, who has a longstanding partnership with crypto gambling platform Stake dating back to 2022, has publicly expressed support for digital assets. He previously shared a post featuring Michael Saylor’s Bitcoin remarks on Instagram.
The famous artist recently faced allegations from a 20-year-old social media influencer who claimed to have suffered a $2 million loss in a crypto investment deal. The influencer, during a live stream with DJ Akademiks, alleged that Drake and an individual known as Top5 failed to fulfill promises related to this investment.
Hacking social media accounts to promote fake projects or tokens is a common tactic among cybercriminals in the crypto space. Scammers often target high-profile individuals and brands to create a facade of legitimacy for their fraudulent schemes. In October, the X account of Andy Ayrey, Truth Terminal’s founder, was under attack.
The hacker used the access to promote a token called “IB,” and walked away with $600 million in net profit. Last week, Cardano Foundation’s X account was compromised, with attackers posting false information about an alleged SEC lawsuit and promoting a fraudulent token.
