On March 4th, Cryptopunk #3,100, known as an ‘Alien Punk’ within the NFT series, changed hands for $16 million, equivalent to 4,500 ETH.
This transaction ranks as the second priciest in the Cryptopunk market history. The record for the highest sale still belongs to Cryptopunk #5,822, another ‘Alien Punk,’ fetching $23.7 million.
Sporting a headband, Cryptopunk #3,100 has now been owned by three different collectors. Seven years back, its first owner acquired it for a mere $2,133, and then it was sold three years ago for $7.67 million, which was about 4,200 ETH at that time, compared to the recent 4,500 ETH. This transaction propelled the collection to the forefront of 24-hour NFT sales by series, surpassing Nodemonkes and Uncategorized Ordinals in popularity.
Furthermore, this purchase has boosted the total sales volume of NFTs on the Ethereum network, reaching $39,046,592 in the last 24 hours. With a 63.38% increase in Ethereum-based NFT sales, largely thanks to Cryptopunk #3,100, the minimum price for acquiring a Cryptopunk NFT has surged to 57 ether, as reported by nftpricefloor.com.
